About

Hi, I am Seth.

I have been working as an educator and a digital marketer. This is pretty much a journal of my journey in tech, business and life, I write for my past self. If you find it useful, that is good. If you do not, that is fine, too. As the sayings go, “if the shoe fits, wear it.”

I like exploring technology and tools and like to make the most of them. You will find tips, tricks and tutorials on how to be more productive using those tools. I value time and like simplifying things. So I make Keep-It-So-Simple tutorial. The tutorials are straightforward and easy to follow. Also I am learning new languages, I might write them into other languages.

1. I TEL (Technology, Entrepreneurship and Life) (pun intended 🙂 ).

2. I also create straightforward and easy to follow tutorials on how to be more productive using simple tools.

3. Blog is dead? No, not yet. Quality content does matter. Blog is a platform and platform is only a tool to present your content.

4. Quality over quantity. Number of followers does not matter much if you do not depend on Advertising. 100 followers, loyal customers who are willing to buy your book or course are better than 1,000 random ads visitors. When you have quality contents, people will find you and spread the word about you anyways.

5. If you want to do something, just do it. If you want to blog, just do it. If you do not know where to start, I will show you.

Basically, I am a curious soul. I try a lot of things both in personal life and businesses, fail at them, have fun with them. I learned the term, “Multipotentiality” and “Multipotentialites”. I used to wonder what is wrong with me to spend time, efforts on different things as I could not settle in one hobby or skill or language. Then I realize that I am a multipotentialite. The key is thing may interest me, but I am the one who do it, try it, fail or enjoy it. You will never know until you try.

I would never know that I like photography until I rolled the film on Kodak camera to photograph my family trip.

I would not be into programming until I was impressed by simple lines of code can automate and simplify my work and life.

I would never know I like biking I took my ride from border to border, from city to jungle. Yeah, you get the point.

Takeaway:

1. Be open to try different thing. Just do it and keep going. You will never know until you try.

2. Celebrate your little success as it keeps you motivated. I find people are happier when they are satisfied what they have rather than after what they do not have.

3. Do not be mean to yourself or let negative inner/outer voice tells you that you cannot do it. Yeah, I have been there until I rode a bicycle 90 km a day...

4. Be a better you.

This quote says it all,

“Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either. People are simply unique, incomparable. You are you, I am I.” —Osho

Living in a noisy world, narcissistic culture and social media that let you think you have to impress someone…is misleading. In the end, nobody cares about you.

So sit back and relax. Set your daily goals that you love doing to make yourself feel better. Be a better version of yourself everyday is what matters.

If you love photography like me, Nikon DSLR is still a beast. I still own 2x Nikon D700.

How to choose your camera if you are a minimalist and want to own ONLY ONE camera:

1. Choose a Full Frame sensor (it works well-round: low light, high dynamic range, blur background...)

2. Mirrorless Body (There are a lot of Pros: New tech, can adapt to any lenses, does better with video…)

3. Can do both video and photo.

4. Never marry to any brand. Just choose what feels best in your hand and what works best for you and your shooting nature.

Which Camera Lens to use? Please use above links, then search your preference lens when you buy

1. Depend on your preferences

2. If you are on budget and can afford only one lens: Choose 50mm f/1.8 as it is affordable, fast, can shoot in low light, good Bokeh (blur background), 50mm and 85mm are ideal focal length for portraits.

3. Travel photography, 24-70mm f/2.8, or 24-105mm f/4, or 18-200mm f/3.5

4. Street photography: 35mm f/1.8

5. Narrow space, real estate photography: 10mm, 12mm,  16mm

6. Others: 70-300mm or 70-200mm

Note: f/1.4, f/1.2...are kind of fast lenses but they are expensive. Plus, they are not benefit much to users with less skills

*Remember: Buy a Full Frame lens for Full Frame camera body. APSC or Crop Sensor lenses might be cheaper but they were not made for Full Frame camera.
